Using the design process to create a better wearable wristband

  1. Define the problem: work in pairs to create a design for the most modern, interesting new wearable electronic wristband for teens. Build a prototype on paper.
    1. Label each of these items as either criteria or constraints
      • must weigh less than 2 pounds
      • made of durable materials that last at least a year
      • easy to take on and off
      • can be worn in the rain
      • costs under $100
      • has a speaker and a microphone
  2. Brainstorm. Do some research on features in wearable electronics
    1. Read these and summazire:

    2. Each person find at least 2 things on your own of what's new in wearable electronics. Describe them here and cite the sources
      • ______
      • ______
    3. Think of at least 10 possible features of what would be fun, valuable and interesting for a wristband of wearable technology designed for high school students.
      • _______ , _______
      • ________ , _________
      • _______ , __________
      • _______ , _________
      • _______ , ____________
    4. Each person draw a design of their wristband of the future. Label all the features.

    5. Compare designs and choose the best features of both.
    6. Get a slip of paper and create the ultimate wearable technology wristband by combining the best features of each of your designs.
    7. Create a one page advertisement or poster for your invention.
